Scottsdale Stadium - Scottsdale, Arizona

Photographed in 1988, 1991 and 1994 using film.

Scottsdale stadium seats 12,000.

Scottsdale Stadium - ORIGINAL stadium opened in 1955, and closed after spring training in 1991. The stadium was torn down, rebuilt and opened for spring training in 1992. Scottsdale stadium has been the spring training home for the San Francisco Giants since 1982.

The original Scottsdale Stadium was made mostly of wood. It had its charm but it did not have the modern features of the newer Cactus League parks.

The stadium is home to the Scottsdale Scorpions AFL, the Arizona League Giants of the AZL and of course, is the spring training home for the Giants.

In 1956, the Baltimore Orioles were the first team to use Scottsdale Stadium for spring training. The Boston Red Sox were next followed by the Chicago Cubs. A footnote to the Red Sox training at Scottsdale Stadium. It was the last venue the great Ted Williams trained at. It was also the debut for Ted's replacement, Carl Yastrzemski.
Location - 7408 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale, Arizona
